At CES 2025, TechRadar got hands on with the Stromberg Twin 2 and published a piece titled "I tried a portable Bluetooth speaker that splits into two, and it might be genius." The Twin 2 also made their list of the 5 best speakers of CES 2025.
That kind of coverage does not happen by accident. Here is what caught their attention and why it matters if you are shopping for a portable Bluetooth speaker in 2026.
What TechRadar Said
Reviewer Ural Garrett tested the Twin 2 on the CES convention floor and highlighted several things:
- The split design stood out immediately. A pill shaped speaker that magnetically holds together as one unit, then separates into two independent wireless speakers for true stereo sound. TechRadar described the concept as a speaker that "blends form and function."
- Sound quality impressed. Even on a noisy convention floor, the reviewer noted "deep bass and stereo sound potential" from the 20W dual 2.25 inch drivers. Each speaker's volume can be adjusted independently.
- Build quality felt right. The magnetic attachment system is strong enough to hold the two halves together securely but easy enough to pull apart when you want stereo. The reviewer said it "just felt right" in hand.
- The speakers separate up to 20 feet apart. That is enough to fill a room with actual left and right stereo separation, something a single speaker physically cannot do.
TechRadar's verdict: "If StormBerg is looking to regain ground in the crowded portable speaker market internationally, the Twin 2 may be its best shot."
What Is a Split Speaker, Exactly?
If this is the first time you are hearing about split speakers, the concept is simple. Instead of one speaker playing both stereo channels from the same spot (which is technically mono), a split speaker separates into two units. Each unit handles one channel (left or right) and they pair wirelessly with each other. The result is real stereo imaging with actual spatial separation.
Other brands like JBL let you pair two separate speakers for stereo, but that means buying two units at full price and going through a pairing process. The Twin 2 does it out of the box with one purchase.
